BACK in March Hawkins took on another member of staff to be trained up showing the companies commitment to supporting the local community, be it through sales or training.
Having completed his A-Levels through Cornwall College, a 19 year old Liam Smith was left wondering whether to go to university or go into work. Liam explained: “It was the exciting career opportunities with Hawkins that made me want to work there. Being a household name I knew that the chances to climb the career ladder meant the ceiling would be the limit.”
Starting as a customer services advisor in the aftersales department at Hawkins St Stephen Peugeot, Liam has already taken part in training for both Peugeot and Kia as well as completing in house training.Training through online conference sessions with other employees from other dealerships and sometimes training away, such as a couple of days at Kia in Nottingham, Liam is able to earn while he trains. While at the moment his training focuses on customer service skills, Liam is hoping to progress through his training and experience to servicing manager and beyond.
When explaining how Hawkins welcomes apprentices Johnny Hawkins, Dealer Principal at Hawkins St Stephen Peugeot, said: “We put great value in supporting the community by offering jobs with training prospects. We want to invest in the people we have working for us and keep them progressing in our family business.”
